Container terminal

All the necessary equipment

The Container Terminal is equipped with some of the largest container cranes on the market, which have a high level of efficiency. The cranes are able to move up to 35 containers on average per hour per crane. The terminal has railway tracks all the way to the quays. We have Ro/Ro facilities for trailer ferries and good facilities for cooling and refrigerating containers as well as office and warehouse areas at the terminal.

Logistics and service

The terminal has advanced IT systems for handling logistics and reporting. A number of different repair and service companies provide service for the customers of the port.

International hub

The Port of Aarhus is an important hub for ports in Northern, Southern and Eastern Europe as well as for the eastern Mediterranean and the Far East, to which we have regular routes. The rest of the world is reached through weekly feeder connections between Aarhus and continental ports. The road network to the motorways is well-developed, the many hauliers ensure flexible transport, and railway transport provides several weekly connections with the container train to Zealand.

Efficient cargo service

APM Terminals Cargo Service A/S provides service at the Container Terminal in Aarhus. Reception, handout and storage of containers are quick and flexible due to the use of modern control systems. The stevedores use the most efficient handling equipment on the market and have ultramodern facilities for cooling and refrigerating containers.

EU border control

A substantial part of Danish trade in frozen foods to and from third countries takes place through the Port of Aarhus. Veterinary control of foods takes place at the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration, northern region, control department Aarhus, from the address Østhavnsvej 31, DK-Aarhus C.
